Professional Profile
Daniel Quesada, is a creative composer, producer, conductor, and versatile performer based in Costa Rica and Europe. With his unique sound, he has composed and arranged over 50 different projects, from soloist, chamber, and orchestral concert music commissions to scoring for short films, video games, theater, and contemporary dance performances, accumulated over a decade of dedicated practice in the field.
Graduated from the University of Costa Rica and Berklee College of Music, Daniel has recorded, produced, and conducted some of his original compositions with internationally renewed ensembles and orchestras in important studios and theatres in Europe such as the Budapest Art Orchestra in Hungary, Palau de Les Arts in Valencia, Reina Sofia Conservatory in Madrid, and Air Studios in London.
As a performer, his “percussion colorist” approach has led him to become an artist with 50+ recording sessions in Grammy-winning recording studios such as Jazztone Studios in Spain, and Musitica Studios in Costa Rica. He has also performed more than 70 concerts with important ensembles and orchestras in his country, Spain, and the United States, such as the Contemporary Ensemble, the UCR Percussion Ensemble, the Sewanee Symphony Orchestra, the University of Costa Rica Symphony Orchestra, and the Heredia Symphony Orchestra, which he played as a percussion soloist in a nominated album for the Latin GRAMMY Awards in 2021 and 2022.
He has participated as a performer, composer, and guest professor, in different festivals, conventions, recording sessions, and concert tours in countries such as the United States, Spain, the UK, Hungary, Costa Rica, Panama, Nicaragua, Honduras, and Guatemala. Besides, he has worked with internationally renowned composers, producers, performers, and conductors such as Magda Giannikou, Olga Román, Albert Palau, Sergio Martinez, Giancarlo Guerrero, Arturo Márquez, Eduardo García, Fernando Meza, Gene Moon, Gemma New, Carl Saint-Claire, Joaquín Orellana, Eddie Mora, Alejandro Gutierrez, among others.
Daniel is currently living in Sofia, Bulgaria, working as a freelance composer and recording artist for different clients worldwide.
